The Libeau Descendents Inc is based in Canterbury with members mostly in New Zealand and France. There are approximately 3,500 descendants in New Zealand with around 30 in France.
The society was founded in 1994.
The chairperson is Heather Libeau-Dow with a committee of six.
Patron of the society is the French Honorary Consul of Christchurch.
There are now five additional branches, Auckland, Hamilton/Taranaki, Wellington and Rochefort in France.
A Comte de Paris group has been set up for all the families that landed in Akaroa.
